08/26/11 - Week 22

D is busy growing up fast. And so fast that before I take time to update his blog with his most recent milestone, he's moved on to a new one. So here are some totally random updates about him for this week:
  • D has overcome his fear of video chatting with people on the iPhone. It's weird that 2 months ago D loved watching nursery rhymes on the phone. He'd just get wide eyed, stare at the phone and then stare at me and then look back at the phone and so on. In general he would seem to be all happy about the music and the cartoons. And then about 3 weeks ago, one set of grandparents left to India. The first time he saw them on SKYPE, he was confused. He reacted to my Dad's whistles which he has been enjoying since he was a 1-week baby and he reluctantly smiled at them. But then for most part he was clearly uncomfortable. The next time we skyped, he just freaked out. Maybe it was the 'D-gets-cranky-between-7and8pm' time of the day or maybe it was 'I-miss-you-granma-granpa-and-am-sad-to-see-you-only-once-a-day-on-the-phone' or maybe it was just something only he would know. He freaked out and cried for a while. D doesn't cry that often. And when he does that's another post in itself. A few days later, my parents video conferenced with us again. This time around he didn't cry nor was he too happy. He gave starnge and stealthy glances to the phone and my parents. He would look at the phone and when we got the phone closer, he would turn his face away or stare at the floor. It was funny watching him do that the whole time. We had already seen him throwing secretive glances at new people - once at a party and  once when my uncle and aunt visited us. Anyways 2 days ago he got all  chatty with his grandpa and granny on the phone and went on blabbering for almost 20 mins. He even called his grandpa 'tata' :) Today when I called home, his Dad was around and we did some video calling. And lil D gave me a big toothless grin. So there we are -  progessing from being curious, to being sad, then being shy and now getting all warmed up to technology. Well how far can the fruit fall from the tree?
  • He loves playing with his fingers. That's his most favorite pass-time. And when he gets bored of his fingers, he's reaching out for his grandma's! Grandma also noticed that D follows a dedicated pattern while playing with his hands. He likes to put his right thumb between his left index and middle fingers and then twists it. This gesture of his is very rhythmic. We are thinking that he'd of great help to Daddy when things need to be fixed around the house. Why he would have mastered the art of bolting and unbolting by then!
  • He has a thing for my hair. everytime I bend down to kiss him on his tummy he pulls my hair. He's gonna help me go bald faster
  • His feeding habbits have changed. He seems to have lost his appetite and for most feeds he drinks an ounce and that start playing with the bottle. He isn't loosing weight but is causing some concern to us. We might introduce him to some solids this weekend. DsDad fixed his high chair for him. We'll have to see how D'd like to be fed in it
  • He has started enjoying his baths. Lil fella is getting big for his bath tub. He loves to stare at himself in the mirror. He's all inquistive about the tiny man on the other end. Wonder what he thinks of himself?
  • His skin breaks out into a rash every now and then. I'm a lil skeptical about using hydrocortisone 0.5 cream on him everyday. We usually apply hydrocortisone on him and then top it off with some aquafor. The days we opt out on the hydrocortisone, his skin is all chapped and dry :( And then he gets itchy and he rubs his arms and legs to his blanket. It's sad to see him do that but to the wicked in me it appears as if he's performing to the 'I am a disco dancer' number from old Mithun Chakroborthy movies!
  • He still loves his swing and his bouncer
  • He has started rolling from his back to the front and in 2 flips he's moved out from the big quilt we have for him on to the carpet. Can't wait for him the crawl!!
  • Foot tremors have stopped as miraculously as they had started
  • He still turns a little red when he's upset but it isn't as bad as it used to be when he was a newborn

Passport for Dhruv

Today D’s Mom and Dad took him to the county office to apply for his Passport. Dhruv dozed off while on the way but woke up just in time to pose for his Passport picture!

Month 2

Month 1

Ready Set Go..

So for almost a year now, I wanted to create a blog. A blog to trace D's journey from since he was a little peanut. All we did was blink and he's already 41/2 months old :( Offlate DsDad and I begin our conversations with "when he was younger.." or "when D was a lil baby...". Woooah!!! So before we blink again and realise that D has turned into this rebelious teenager, we'd like to document the joys of raising a sweet baby that is extremely lovable, easy going, quiet and shy yet very spirited and strong willed.
